A drawing of The Owl and the Pussycat children’s poem, from around this time last year, that I still love so much!🦉🖤🐈 Victorian children’s stories and nonsense poems like this have always been a big inspiration for me in my work. I love all of the weirdness, whimsy, superstition and anthropomorphic characters - and for some reason, I always feel especially drawn to these odd tales in the springtime!🌿 Expect to see more peculiar works like this coming your way!✨
Reflecting on my work, I’ve realized, I don’t usually draw more than one person in a piece, but I do often draw a single person surrounded by many animals. This isn’t a conscious decision, but I think it happens so often because I have always been more naturally drawn to animal beings than human beings. No offence to all of you humans out there, but there is a connection I feel with animals, that I have just never felt with other humans.. to me, animals are something special. They are never judgemental, they’re great listeners, they’re some of the best friends I’ll ever have and I find their presence to be so calming and comforting. Their eyes are so wise and soulful, and I feel like us humans can learn a lot from the sweet creatures around us. I’ve always been particularly fascinated by all of the different personalities animals have - just like people, they are all individuals, and I find it so rewarding to truly get to know an animal.. it’s the most rewarding bond there is💜 I cherish my time with every precious beast on this earth - how wonderful they are to know! And how lucky we are to get the chance to know them!🖤🐈🐐🐑🦋🐁🐺🐎🦌🐿🐖🐄🌿
