I tasted this at the Raw Wine Fair back in March and then took a bottle home with me as the winemaker is just a delight and his wines stole the show! Really interesting to see the development of this natural wine. Sulphites is what protect our wines so they stay fresh and vibrant and don't oxidise - turning the wine to vinegar. Hence why most winemakers will use a bit of sulpher to prolong their wines and make sure they get to you in tip top condition. The grapes must be in their best shape to allow a wine with no added sulpher to survive.
This wine was super fruity fresh in March and very floral. Similar characteristics are there but now with a fleshier palate and a slightly more sharp apple nose. This adds complexity and thoroughly enjoyable but i think this vintage 2016 is best drunk for 1 more year before getting a little funky - but hey - I know enough of you love the funk! 😉
Piana Dei Castelli are the producers in Lazio, Italy. Follia means crazy and that reflects the vineyard that is planted with a scattering of Grechetto, Malvasia, Trebbiano Giallo, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc - who knows the amounts. It's aged on the lees for 24 months in cement tanks, made organically, biodynamically, unfiltered and without adding sulpher. .
❇️Hints of cider, it's all baked cooking apples with peachs and nectarines. A little touch of marzipan comes through.
❇️Quite full bodied, super juicy and some interesting spices complimenting the tinned peachy palate, maybe star anise? A touch of cinnamon. A good amound of acidity stops this wine being fleshy. Certainly an interesting wine for being who want to know how natural wine can be, before the dreaded turn!
Flashback to 1989 when my hair was ‘young’. Oh what I used to put it through. It’s amazing that I have healthier hair NOW then I did back THEN. If only I could find the same type of products for my skin I would believe I found the fountain of youth!
First time ever I requested a braid after my hair cut with the stylist. I’m going to ride and need a good braid. I couldn’t have @iloveev1 go through a workout to blow out my hair for me to go home and braid it.
Thank you so much for the cut, convo, and a beautiful braid. 💕
