Hi! I'm Michael and I love being barefoot, being on the water and taking pictures. I took sailing lessons when I was little and didn't love it. I took piano lessons when I was younger, and I hated it. I wish I would have known how much fun both of these things are instead of being my stubborn self. What is something that most people don't know about YOU?
So many people show only the highlights. Don't get me wrong. This was an AMAZING DAY. It has always been a dream to travel to shoot boudoir. After my paid shoots @alyssatoth took me to this magic school bus to create images I never could have imagined. REALITY: Since I've only left my house 3 times in the last 6 days currently in a sweater, at my computer as I try my best get all my work done and to keep posting motivational things. Until the next exciting trip I plan on staying in this comfortable sweater to make that possible.
*Law of Diminishing Returns*
This is a business term, but in life it basically means that the more you experience something the less special it can become.
EXAMPLE: Your first morning waking up next to the ocean? LIFE CHANGING. Your 100th morning? It's always there, so what is the big deal?
BUT sometimes you have the opposite effect, something that becomes more meaningful the more time you spend with it. This is what Hawaii has been, this is what BOUDOIR has been. I started boudoir just to make some extra cash in the winter. After hearing story after story of the impact it made I grew more and more attached to it. What is something in your life that has grown MORE MEANINGFUL over time?
I found a bathtub in the forests of Oahu where I challenged the great @boudoirhawaii in a 2-minute photo challenge. It was SO FUN. @mckaelaryan was hilarious and should have her own TV show. Let me know what you think of the video! Link in profile.
**Ever had an experience that made you want to change careers?** ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I photographed @luxe.imagery last year and it moved her wanting to make the same difference in the lives of others that she had for herself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"I thought I was getting “sexy” photos taken for my man, but I never expected the life-changing experience that unfolded instead. Seriously! Best money I’ve ever spent on MYSELF.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Like many women, I spent my young adult years with a negative body image. I had developed an unhealthy relationship with food and exercise and was really good at punishing my body.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With the support of those around me, and years of really honest and hard work on myself, I slowly learned to give myself grace, so I could embrace and love myself for who I truly was.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now I’ve made it my mission in life to show women just how beautiful and worthy we all really are - no matter our age, size, or where we’re at in life."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm so excited for all the lives you're going to impact with you're new love of boudoir!

You know what makes you... you? Your experiences, the years you struggled, the times you felt like you didn't fit in. I spent 6 years filming weddings. I love movement and motion, and it is why so many of my photos look less posed and more fluid. I believe it is one of the things that make my images unique. What makes your images unique to you?
Heading back to Hawaii today. Last year I put out into the universe that I wanted to shoot and book there more. Just getting started made all the difference in the world. I believe the difference between the people reaching their goals and the ones who still keep them as dreams is action. Do the thing. Post the picture. Message the model. Book the ticket. Raise your prices. Get rejected. Do it all over again.
Smiling's my favorite. But you know what, for 2 years I didn't smile in pictures because I didn't like the wrinkles it created on my face. Can you imagine? Spending years of your life not wanting to be captured in a way that shows your joy, or the part of you that brings other people happiness? I'm sure you can. In fact, almost all of the women I photograph spend years avoiding the camera for fear of capturing something they have chosen to dislike about themselves. I'm here to help change that dislike into acceptance, and maybe one day, into love. #choosehappiness
I woke up to 50,000 subscribers on YouTube. It hasn't really hit yet because I've had such a busy week with client shoots, so this post isn't about me, tips or tricks, words of wisdom or motivation. I just want to say thank you to anyone who has ever supported me. If you liked a photo, watched a video or hired me to be your boudoir photographer, thank you! And thank you to this amazing woman for allowing me to be creative and shoot some of my favorite boudoir portraits that I've ever taken!
* Most people don't get what they want because they don't ask for it. *⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
More lessons from the workshop. Have you ever felt like YOU should be in a higher place, but no one hands it to you? It might be because you never asked. You will grow faster by asking. DO the work. But if you are stuck, ask. Do you want to photograph that person? Ask. Do you want some advice on your photo? Ask. Post in the facebook groups, ask your peers. And stop being afraid of what people think of you for asking.
* You can't buy the experience of 1000 photoshoots *⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I just got back from teaching at the Boudoir Exposed workshop in Florida, and it taught me a few things. Many people try to learn everything before they start. "If I read the right books, if I take the right workshops, if I watch the right videos, I can learn everything first, and then get started." Someone even said "I want to fail on the runway, not in the air. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The problem is... You can't learn from a video what you can learn from directing a client who is nervous. You can't take a workshop and then get positive reviews from the clients you don't have.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The truth is... You're ready before you think you are. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The truth is... You're ready NOW.
