To share with you pieces from the @al.thani.collection is definitely the exciting and beautiful part of my job. So I am continuing. 🙋♀️ An Art Deco ruby, emerald and diamond JIGHA from the @al.thani.collection, mid-20th century.
Estimate: $100,000 - $150,000 @christiesjewels Maharajas & Mughal Magnificence, New York 19 June.
👉 @richagoyalsikri: By the middle of the 20th century, it became quite fashionable to repurpose traditional styles into more modern interpretations. Maharajas would either fly to Paris with their jewels or jewellers would spend months in India acquiring commissions. This particular Art Deco example of a turban ornament ‘Jigha’ stands out for its generous use of carved, cushion & oval-cut rubies. The sprinkling of old-cut diamonds, emeralds, all set in gold further enhances the dramatic effect.
😉 "Superb examples of Art Deco fashion" as @h.e.r_jewels said in her post. Exactly! I immediately highlighted LOT 96 from @christiesjewels Maharajas & Mughal Magnificence sales, New York, 19 June. 👉An Art Deco Emerald, Diamond, Onyx & Enamel Lapel-Watch, signed Cartier, Paris, 1925. Detachable in three places and may be worn as a shorter pendant or as a clip brooch.
Estimate: $200,000 - $300,000.
@h.e.r_jewels: The principal is that you would pin your beautiful bejeweled watch to your garment or wear it as a long pendant and return it to read time. 🌟
