Can you see all my makeup????????? LOOK REAL CLOSE BECAUSE IT’S EXTREMELY THERE 😂😂😂😂 I’m wearing layers of color corrector and under eye concealer because I may or may not be dehydrated and exhausted from traveling (drinking milkshakes instead of water) and packing up my old apartment (staying up extremely late and trying on my entire wardrobe) 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Last few weeks have been a huge struggle to manage my emotions, crippling anxiety, stress, uncertainty, my insides screaming for someone, anyone, to just “get it.” Then this angel @tranzilla_ came along with some cool things to say that are about to change my life. She got me thinking, do we subconsciously choose to suffer because wallowing in anger and despair is food for our ego which believes that we are owed answers and validation? Does something on the outside really have to change for us to feel better, or can we work on healing ourselves, since no one knows us better than ourselves? Does anyone or anything else really hold the power to fix me? No. If the only cost of being happy is letting go then I can afford it. This is all easier said than done of course, but I’m excited to have something to practice. This post isn’t meant to fish for sympathy comments asking if I’m okay, cuz I will definitely be okay. But it does drive me crazy that my comforter is smaller than my flat sheet. 😜
Though thankfully prepared remarks were not required (I still get so nervous I lose all my saliva), when I received the news of this Honorary Doctorate, Yale asked me if I had any words to share with the graduating class:
I wish you work you would want to do, even if you were not paid, and friends who are chosen family. Then you can withstand all the storms of life and become who you uniquely are.
Unlike Harry Potter, my friend Steve Byrne does not have a giant PR machine behind him. But he produced and directed a really great documentary about @theamazingjohnathan who, if you haven’t seen him perform, is just super funny in addition to being a great magician. The whole story is moving and funny and well told and I’m really happy for Steve. You can watch it free on YouTube right now. “Always Amazing.” It’s great.
The greatest investment you can make is in YOU. You are the only asset you are guaranteed to have for the rest of your life, through every relationship, every experience, every up and down. How are you building yourself today?
This clip was taken from my Houston live event last year. Are you coming to the tour this year? If you haven’t got your tickets yet, half of the events are already sold out. See which cities still have available tickets by tapping the link in my bio.
