For my very first competition I was super pumped and excited , something that I couldn’t hide especially at the gym, from taking my shirt off ( like a douchebag ) to flexing in front of people , trying to make everyone notice me, my hard work and of course my body.
At the same time there used to be that shy guy who used to train at the same gym with his ugly hoodie on all the time, never caused a trouble, super polite, you can tell he was working hard but not sure why.
Fast forward to the day of the show, I was super cocky, confident that I’m going to destroy the show and was in the middle of the pumping room backstage with my shirt off looking at everyone eyes letting them know I’m here to win, yet I see that same guy from my gym at the corner of the room with his hoodie on , Again.
I didn’t even think twice about it : oh that kid from my gym!!!
I won the first place and then I had to battle for the overall , and guess who won! Yes it was the guy from my gym with the ugly hoodie.
That was a life changing lesson for me, it humbled me so much, but most importantly it changed me to the man who I am now.
So for those who keep asking and wondering why do I train with my hoodie on, why don’t I make any noise, who don’t I try to show off even though I’ve got the body to do so?!
Because I’m here to Work. I’m here to create a better chapter in my journey , I’m here to Win.
And if you want to win in life, you must work in silence.
