The reason why I’ve been MIA 😅 My interest in investing started when I agreed to help out raise $100k for a client of mine who was battling cancer. We were able to surpass our goal in 6 weeks. This past week I took on another challenge of starting a small side $250 #forex account and made a goal for myself to reach $1500 by the end of the week. I had to take some gut wrenching losses mid week but was able to end the week strong. Now before you start thinking that this could be your opportunity to get rich quickly, full disclosure:
1. I have a finance degree and worked as a licensed broker for Merrill Lynch in my prior life.
2. I have prior trading experience.
3. The statistics are stacked up against any new trader as more than 90% of traders are not able to produce consistent profits.
But I am not here to talk about statistics and facts. Instead I wanted to share a few invaluable lessons I’ve learned throughout my investing endeavors:
1. Money is a state of mind. Nothing more, nothing less.
2. Failures are your biggest teacher. Every single loss I took taught me how to be a more consistent trader.
3. A consistent, calculated & calm strategy produces results. Emotional trading can get you out of money faster than you think.
4. Risk and reward are not inversely correlated which means without taking risks, growth is not possible.
5. Money is neither good nor bad. It’s not about the things that money can buy, at least not for me. It’s about the freedom you can gift to yourself and others in need.

I am a huge proponent of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and have been using it ever since I was diagnosed with a rapidly growing breast tumor in 2013. It is a non-toxic and non-invasive treatment that enhances the body’s natural healing processes by providing the body with extra oxygen.

I’ve been craving Pitaya smoothies lately so I got one this morning from @thejuiceparlor.
Mix: pitaya + 🥥 milk + chia pudding + 🍌 + 🍓 + 🍍
Toppings: 🍓 + 🍌 + granola
Dragon fruit aka pitaya has gone under the radar here in America compared to many mainstream fruits and vegetables like apple and kale. But adding this nutritious tropical fruit to our diet can provide many health benefits:
1. The high levels of Vitamin C in dragon fruit can give the body’s immune system a boost while also stimulating the activity of other antioxidants to fight free radicals.
2. In addition to Vitamin C, dragon fruit also contains Carotene, Lycopene and Polyphenols which are linked to their anti-carcinogenic qualities, including reducing a number of tumors and lowering the risk for prostate and estrogen sensitive cancers.
3. Studies have shown that the mono saturated contained in dragon fruit may lower the risk of heart disease and high blood pressure as it decreases bad cholesterol levels while improving the good levels.

Ahhh I am so happy to see so many of you already bought a new juicer. Thank you so much for your DMs and sharing your pictures. Now that you all have a new juicer, I’m going to outline the 10 day #juicecleanse that I recently completed:
Day 1-3: I alternated between green juices and carrot juices every other hour. Plus I gave myself a big glass of smoothie in the morning made with blueberries, bananas and coconut water.
Day 4: I added a plate of raw salad + a spoonful of raw macadamias. I used apple cider vinegar, lemon + half of a teaspoon of olive oil for my dressing. I recommend creating your own dressing during the cleanse vs. buying pre-packaged dressing. If you are not hungry you can skip this step and continue on with the juices + smoothies.
Day 5: I did a 24 hr water fast so I only drank water and decaf/herb teas.
Day 6-10: I continued drinking my juices with no smoothies or meals in between. I used a 80/20 ratio of green vegetables and fruit juices.
Please do not add sugar of any kind (even natural sources of sugar) to your juices and smoothies. I also recommend that you make your juices and smoothies at home and don’t let them sit for too long. Ideally they should be consumed within 6-8 hours or less to maintain their highest nutritional value. If you’re out and about you can get your fresh juice/smoothie made to order from places like @thejuiceparlor. I would avoid any store packaged juices as most of them are filled with sugar and have very little nutritional value. Stick to fresh juices and smoothies.

Life is full of ups and downs. On Thursday, I just completed my 10 day cleanse and felt like I was on top of the world. When I came home that day, I saw that the mini rebounder that I recently ordered was delivered sooner than anticipated. I got so excited that I immediately started putting it together. Minutes later I already started jumping on it. Then boom 💥 I landed on the outside of my right foot and immediately screamed from the pain. My right ankle was swollen right away. I panicked, cried, cursed and got really really angry. I wondered how many days this will put me behind after a week of feeling strong and untouchable. I still have no answers but I finally got tired of all the negative thoughts and forced myself to calm down (this is where a meditation practice comes handy). I immediately started to write down all the positive aspects of my current predicament. One of them being: now that I am completely immobile, I have so much free time to finally catch up on my fave books, watch all the documentaries that I’ve been wanting to see, meditate more and go to bed earlier which is exactly what I’ve been doing these past 2 days. I’m still walking around with a cane but my ankle has healed tremendously in just 48 hours. For anyone who suffers from an ankle injury, I recommend the natural RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) method. Here’s my recovery protocol in a nutshell:
1. Use Arnica orally and topically to help release the swelling and pain.
2. Consume big doses of fruits and vegetables high in fiber and vitamin C. Anti inflammatory juices with turmeric and wheat grass are your new best friend.
3. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy reduces inflammation and increases collagen production like nothing else.
4. Plant based Vitamin D, calcium and collagen aid the regeneration process of healthy tissues and bones.
5. Use KT orthopedic tape (made of 100% cotton) and wrap it snugly around the ankle to hunker it down.
6. Ice the ankle 20 minutes every other hour in an elevated position. Switch to mild heat as soon as swelling and inflammation has dissipated.
7. Rest and take advantage of the unexpected down time.
So many of you have been asking for a before and after picture so here it is. The picture on the left was taken the day before I started my 10 day #juicecleanse and the picture on the right was taken yesterday after I ended my #juicefast. I lost a total of 13 lbs in 10 days. It’s worth noting that all of my health coaching clients who started a juice fast the same time I was lost much more weight than me (anywhere between 15 lbs-18 lbs). Although none of us did the cleanse for weight loss it was definitely a bonus side effect. I personally did the cleanse to detoxify, reset my system and get rid of any kind of food addiction that is not particularly healthy for my body. Some of the biggest benefits I experienced from a juice cleanse were: total mental clarity (bye bye brain fog!), sustained energy (with no highs and lows), restful sleep (I’ve been sleeping like a baby) and clear skin (everybody has been commenting how clear my skin is!). A lot people claim a juice clean never works for weight loss because you gain the weight right back. Of course If you go back to eating the way you used to before you started the cleanse, you will most likely gain your weight back. But to me the biggest benefit of a juice cleanse is that it completely changed my palette. I just don’t have any craving for sugar or any type food that does not nourish body anymore. Instead I crave for real food at its most natural form like this morning I had huge cravings for raw broccoli and oranges. I ended my 10 day #juicefast yesterday with a plate of Herb Salad from my fave vegan restaurant @aulacreataurant in Fountain Valley. Since yesterday I’ve eaten a bowl of oatmeal and spoonful of raw macadamias. I feel healthy, strong, energized and more committed than ever to continue overdosing my inner landscape with nutrition. It’s been almost a week since I started my #juicecleanse. Now that I am helping people navigate through their own journey of healing, I got even more inspired to step up my own wellness game. So I started my cleanse pretty much the same time as my clients at the beginning of this past week. This morning I woke up feeling lighter and clearer than ever before. I sleep like a baby at night and I have so much more energy. There are many benefits to doing a cleanse as it boosts your immune system, flushes out toxins, gives your body a break from digestion and an opportunity to reset. Around day 3 of a cleanse, your body switches form burning glucose for energy to burning body fat (aka ketosis) and since there is a shortage of glucose for fuel, healthy cells reinforce their defenses and begin to break down damaged cells for fuel (aka autophagy). I am happy to report that after a week of juicing, all of my clients are feeling energized, healthier and more committed than ever to continue on. They all saw results even as early as day 3 and have lost anywhere between 7-12lbs in a week. Some of them even carry a juicer in their car now. They would drive to the local farmers market, get fresh produce and make fresh juice in the back of their car. I am so ridiculously proud of them for taking big leaps everyday.
