A shoulder press for example utilizes many muscles, making it a great tool to develop a powerful look. In the concentric motion of a shoulder press for example you have the pecs and triceps and major factors in the movement. Utilizing unilateral movements allows you to focus on one body of work more than another. If you find you have an arm or any muscle not equal in presence as its counter part or antagonist, add 20% more volume to that muscle or that side. Adding this 20% is enough to correct it while not allowing its counter part to atrophy, stunt its growth nor become underpowered. Take each workout one step further.
I make sure I am using my mind and focusing deep into my quads when it comes to specific exercises. I want to feel every fiber working. I generate great power at around 15-20 reps and working to failure in this rep range is effective for my body. When you get deeply connected with your muscles, you don’t need to lift the whole gym. I know most people think of working a higher rep range as light, but not for me. My legs like this range and it’s where I feel the best combination of power, strength and burn. I’ve always found that this rep range is very natural for me and I feel more connected than when using lower reps.
