In and amongst the disruption of depression I forgot I had a podcast. This week’s episode is the second half of my What I’ve Learned About Business episode. Last week, I shared everything I learned in the first five years of building ban.do. And in this episode I’m sharing what i learned in the second five years. In this episode, you’ll learn what it takes to scale a business and also how it feels (surprise: It doesn’t always feel good). I’ll share tips on management, hiring, and organization—and I'll tell you more about the importance of intention and transparency in your work. And if you love pretty horrible singing please listen to this audio gram my friends at @girlboss made for me! 🤗
My brother brought me here. It was my first time exploring the underground. He had gone before and told me about it and he said wanted to go again. Only a few days after he had gone, he was going again and he brought me along. We showed up to the station prepared with our cameras, tripods, gloves, steel wool, a lighter and flashlights.
Inside the unfinished station was pitch black. My brother warned me to lookout for spots I could fall into. We wandered the station and shot for over an hour. There's a unique feeling of isolation you get from being in a place like this.
On our way out, my brother lost his footing as he climbed down a ladder and was left dangling from a rope. He recovered and made it back down the ladder. My way down wasn't as dramatic. My brother laughed so much at how slowly I climbed down that ladder. His laugh was contagious and I had to laugh at myself too.
As we made it back to the platform and made our way out, people stared at us with faces of confusion and curiosity. We were filthy. Covered in black grime and mud. We got a kick out of the face an MTA worker had as he stared at us making our way out.
It was an exhilarating experience and I have my brother to thank for it.
Goodbye Russia, thanks for having me Moscow.. however, I am very anxious to get home now.. There has been so much destructions & devastations where I live.. My hometown and many others had to be evacuated and I am unsure how things are. Im praying for the families affected from this terrible fires and I hope that everybody will be safe and stay away from the dangers.
God bless the firefighters for their hard work and risking their lives in efforts to keep us safe! I pray for the animals at Malibu Safari, Stanley the giraffe will be taken care of and his friends are ok. I’m flying home today so that I can be there, to help the community’s in anyway I can,. Clean up, repairs etc I know there will be a lot of support needed.
If anyone knows where/how to volunteer to help please DM me. Thank you.
Today is the 1 year anniversary of when Chloe was killed. I’m launching an awareness campaign around how pets are seen as replaceable property under the law (i.e on par with a table, which means the duty of care is lower than it should be, vet malpractice isn’t really a thing, the only recourse when a pet is killed is replacement cost etc. ). The goal is to raise awareness around how out of touch our laws are with how we as a society view our pets as family, and to push for change by raising money for the ALDF (@animallegaldefensefund) - the non-profit that works to change laws to better protect pets. It would mean the world to me if you helped spread this message so that we can make this change happen ❤️ Here is the campaign page: spot.fund/chloe
@KlausBiesenbach: “As a museum, you have a civic responsibility, you have a role in society, you have to be courageous, you have to open up your doors to allow for dialogue.” @DeborahVankin of the @LATimes sat down with our very own Klaus Biesenbach to discuss his plans for MOCA–click the link in our bio to read more!
You’ve got mail! To: Herman Miller. From: Irving Harper, The Nelson Office. Enveloped in thoughtful detail, this letter was written—or in this case designed—by the well-versed Irving Harper in 1952. His creative ad is one that we’re glad wasn’t returned to sender. Link in bio. #tbt
