This weather those days wants us to be in summer now. Who’s missing summer too?☀️🏖
The story of the rock + the rock: Marcel and I have always collected rocks from special places as memories. When we started dating, we began collecting them together. That being said...
I thought we were going for a casual hike + picnic in the mountains. My hair was wet, in braids + a beanie. I threw on leggings, my J Tree hoodie + had a Mexican blanket wrapped around me, tucked into my pack like a burrito cause I was cold. Marcel kept picking up rocks + dismissing them cause they were too big, or not as cool in the light, etc. I thought nothing of it, this was seemingly normal. We hit the top where we had views of the city/ mountains on one side, + the coastline on the other. We picnicked in a cave and climbed rocks, kissing and giggling. No one was in sight for miles.
On the walk down, we stopped at a section of the rock with a natural heart formation in it. I had always called this “the love rock,” but this was Marcel’s first time here + he was about to give that name a whole new meaning. He stopped in front of the heart + got down on one knee. I honestly didn’t notice. He picked up the rock I am holding in this picture with his left hand + asked, “What about this rock? This is a cool one, ya?” I looked down + he casually dropped that rock (which we later went back for) and put his right hand out front with an open box holding the ring and said, “Or... what about THIS rock?” I swear at that point I blacked out for a few seconds and had some sort of outer body experience. Surely an effect of sheer shock. As I came back to reality, I realized he had just said my full name + knew THIS WAS IT.
I’ll leave his exact words between us, but they were beautifully perfect... and at the end, he asked if I would marry him 💍 Of course I said yes, but as my eyes filled with happy tears, again I felt what can only be described as shock. I had to sit down, so I did beside him. We stayed in that spot for a few minutes, on the rocks, in the dirt, in my favorite city, with my favorite human... my now, fiancé ❤️ And that’s our story. Well, at least this chapter. Stay tuned for the rest of our Happily Every After + always believe in fairytale endings. They really do exist 💑
