Coming into yourself in this world today can be challenging to say the least. Then, add the pressure of identifying as someone who society considers "not normal," and life gets that much harder. One of the most important things along ones journey is finding safe spaces that are inclusive and where people honor and value your true authentic self. It seems to me that Uber is that place and community. Whether you're on the LGBTQIA spectrum, POC, or both, Uber ERGs acknowledge and respect your identity and are committed to making their employees lives that much more joyful and enriched.
To continue my partnership with @Uber, I took a trip to Uber's Pittsburgh office where I, along with fellow influencers @alokvmenon and @jacobtobia , meet with Lana Goehring - a soft spoken yet bad ass trans woman whose day job is managing Training and Documentation for the Machine Teaching Team, and “gay job” is overseeing UberPride in the U.S. and Canada.
I won’t bombard you all with a super long caption, but let’s just say Uber is doing A LOT, and it’s encouraging to know that a trans woman is at the forefront of that change. I know she’s going to encourage the company to continue to raise the bar and set the tone for the future of tech.

Building on my partnership with @Uber, I took a trip to Washington D.C. to connect with a member of UberPride to get a better understanding of this employee resource group and their initiatives.
I met with UberPride member Sasha Arias, a queer cisgender female who is currently a Central Operations Manager for the U.S. & Canada. We discussed everything from personal experiences to support for the LGBTQ+ communities, and the latest climate surrounding trans rights.
As a queer woman of color, I continue to face various challenges in the professional space. It was encouraging to learn that a company such as Uber has created a space to help people grow in their careers while also allowing them to be their authentic selves.

Whether you're a woman, you're a person of color, or a woman who is a person of color, you can relate to the feelings of isolation in a corporate environment.
I recently sat down with Robin Johnson, the Greenlight Team Lead and UberHUE leader to talk about how instrumental UberHUE has been to her growth in the company. We, also, talked about how important is it for ERGs like UberHUE to exist. UberHUE promotes Black diversity, culture, and inclusion for all employees at Uber.

Such a fun night celebrating Diwali at the @uber LA office with Uber’s Asian Heritage ERG✨ We enjoyed Indian food + a mehndi artist + bhangra dancers! 💙Thank you Uber for creating such a special event celebrating the diversity of the Asian community, and the inherent intersectionality that is present within our community 🙋🏻♀️ It's so important to celebrate these cultural events, and create opportunities for all us all to learn about each other and where we came from. Growing up, International Day at my school was always my favorite day, because I got to wear Indian clothes and do an Indian dance - and this event definitely reminded me of those special memories ❤️ #AllTheGreatMinds#Ad

Last week I spent the day with @uber team in SF for an office tour, lunch and a 1-on-1 with Josh, a User Experience Researcher. Josh shared all about the Asian Heritage ERG at Uber and how they create an environment that celebrates inclusion and all the different cultures that comprise their team members. My biggest takeaway? Empathy. Have it and cultivate it. Cheers, Josh - thank you for spending the day with me! Hope you'll read about my day on today's blog post at http://9to5chic.com #allthegreatminds#sponsored
