Coming soon. A new exhibition at de Beurs van Berlage as part of @galeriefleurenwouter / This Art Fair, showing the transition from Le Rêve Rose (2015) to my new series Nausicäa (2018), about the fascination for the worlds colours, shapes and rhythms 🧝🏻♀️ Save the date: 27 - 30 December (festive opening at the 27th from 18h -22h).
Currently, elections are taking place in Brazil with the final and decisive round occurring on Sunday October 28th. •
The country is litterally close to a 50/50 percent division between the candidates Fernando Hadad from the Worker's Party, replacing the popular Lula, former president who's in jail for money laundering and corruption, and Jair Bolsonaro from the Social Liberal Party, globally known as the Trump of the Latin Americas and accelorator for sparking neo-facism in Brazil. •
As did Trump, he's announced to step out of the Human Rights Council and retreat from the Paris Agreement on Climat Change. No explanation is needed on the severity of the latter when it is concerning the land of the Amazon Rainforest. The former is just as concerning as Bolsonaro repeatedly throughout his life has made racist, discrimative comments about black people, women and homosexuals. The famous expression of: "I wouldn't rape you, as you are too ugly for rape", as well as the admiration for the military dictatorship of Pinochet come from the possibly next president of Brazil. •
#EleNao stands for Not Him and clearly states that even perhaps Hadad is no ideal candidate, anything is better than Bolsonaro. •
One could argue which candidate would be the worst (or best) to govern Brazil for the coming years, in the end the outcome will create even more tension between the opponent groups and a great divide between the Brazilian people. •
A polarisation not unfamiliar to the rest of the world nowadays, questioning the two-party system. •

As of Monday I’ll be moving into the backbone of our organization: Operations.
But as I said before, Logistics makes the operational dreams reality. What a special just over 2 years it has been, don’t even know where to start explaining. •
Can’t believe the effort my dear Loggies have done to give me such a precious goodbye gift. A real Kadir van Lohuizen! The photo is an image made on assignment for MSF in Camp Maslakh, Afghanistan (2001). A special thanks to Sonja Bongard, @clementsaccomani & @pierremohamedpetit - you guys are amazing!! •
Dear loggies, thank you for everything and mostly for making my dreams come true!! ♥️ @kadirvanlohuizen@noorimages@doctorswithoutborders@artsenzondergrenzen
Happy World Rhino Day! Keep the 5 alive! •
Photo: Entabeni, South Africa (July 2018). The currently only black rhino in the reserve, became an orphan at a young age and was raised by humans, instead of her own mother. She is a social and curious girl, interacting with white rhinos and even people. Since white and black rhinos do not mate, the rangers in Entabeni are trying to find her a male of her own kind.
It remains a very precarious situation, as rangers mention often having (deadly) encounters with poachers, who go to great lengths to get their hands on the precious good.
New numbers show that in South Africa alone 501 rhinos were poached between January 1, 2018 and August 31, 2018. •
Some initiatives taking action or feel free to mention which organization you are already supporting!
Heartbroken about the news on the dozens of elephants killed in Botswana.
The scientist carrying out the extensive wildlife survey said many of the 87 dead elephants were killed for their tusks just weeks ago - and that five white rhinos have been poached in three months.
"I'm shocked, I'm completely astounded. The scale of elephant poaching is by far the largest I've seen or read about anywhere in Africa to date," said Dr Mike Chase from Elephants Without Borders.

This little princess became an orphan at a young age, when she lost her mother, whom was killed by poachers. After having to be raised by humans instead of her own mother and now that she’s somewhat grown up, she seems a social and curios girl interacting with the white rhinos and even people.
