I haven't made any sugar flowers lately. I've been taking a little break. Sometimes I just need to hit refresh and this slow July is exactly what I needed to get me through the next few months. They are going to be a doozy 😌.
Throwing it back to Flour & Flourish circa 2013 with this chocolate raspberry naked cake. This cake pops up in my pinterest feed at least once a week and always with no credit given. Probably because it's been pinned so many times my name has gotten lost in translation. I guess that's just life though. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This was my first naked cake. It was big. We almost didn't have any flowers to put on it because the flowers wilted away in the bride's family's car overnight in the garage in the middle of a Utah 100 degree summer. So a friend of mine, @erin_nielson, saved the day and picked us up some fresh flowers! That was the first and last time I ever agreed to get fresh flowers ahead of time for a cake. Now they always come directly from the florist when I drop off the cake. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You learn a lot over years and years of making cakes. It's a constant learning process. You just have to make mistakes, move on, and grow from them.

I've been waiting for what seems like forever to share this cake! Am I allowed to have favorites?? If so, this one is for sure up there. High contrast sugar flowers, dark purples, pinky mauves, dusty greens, and fluffy blush peonies.
Ellen was a dream bride and I'm so lucky she trusted me do my thing!
