End the week with some happy news: For years, PA @MomsDemand volunteers urged their legislators to pass a gun safety bill that would help keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers.⠀
This week, those volunteers donned their signature red shirts to join Everytown-endorsed @governortomwolf at a ceremonial bill signing to celebrate that bill becoming a law. ⠀
A local paper called it "a textbook example of how citizens can unite behind a cause to pass legislation." Read more at the link in our bio.
One of the many fatal flaws with the NRA’s recommendation that everyone arm themselves at all times to stop gun violence, is that it ignores the reality of what happens to lawful, Black gun owners like Jemel Roberson, who was the definition of a “good guy with a gun.”⠀
Our hearts are with Jemel Roberson’s family and friends, and all those impacted by the gun violence this weekend at Manny’s Blue Bar in Robbins, Illinois.⠀

For too long, a pattern has followed gun violence in America: tragedy struck, the country mourned, no federal policy action was taken, and the moment passed.⠀
No more. Ask the new Congress to #BreakThePattern at the link in our bio.
In 2017, Telemachus Orfanos survived the Las Vegas mass shooting. On Wednesday, he was shot and killed in Thousand Oaks. This was the statement his mother, Susan, gave to the @nytimes. ⠀ ⠀
Let's honor Telemachus Orfanos, Cody Coffman, Justin Meek, Sean Adler, Sgt. Ron Helus, Alaina Housley, Daniel Manrique, Blake Dingman, Noel Sparks, Kristina Morisette, Jake Dunham, and Mark Meza with action. Ask the new Congress to pass comprehensive background checks legislation in January at the link in our bio. #BreakThePattern
For too long, a pattern has followed mass shootings like the one in #ThousandOaks: tragedy struck, the country mourned, no federal policy action was taken, and the moment passed. But on Tuesday we elected a historic Gun Sense Majority to the House & more lawmakers than ever who can #BreakThePattern.⠀
The reality is we can’t wait until the new Congress is sworn in to make our voices heard. Go to the link in our bio to tweet at them NOW and tell them to #BreakThePattern of inaction and pass comprehensive background checks in January.
When we said we were going to throw out leaders bought by the NRA, it wasn’t a threat - it was a promise.⠀
Together, we elected a #GunSenseMajority majority to the U.S. House of Representatives and Gun Sense Candidates across the country, and we’re only getting started.
Across the country, gun violence survivors and @MomsDemand volunteers have gone from leaders in the gun violence prevention movement to leaders in government! We couldn't be more proud of them! #election2018
The American people have elected a #GunSenseMajority to the U.S. House of Representatives. Together, we’re on our way to enacting stronger national gun safety laws and working towards a future free from gun violence.⠀
Thank you to everyone who volunteered and voted to make this incredible victory possible. #ElectionNight
