The Louisiana Maneuvers, 400,000 member training exercise involving two imaginary countries fighting each other. The two teams faced each other across The Red River, over 3,400 miles of the region, part of which was in East Texas. Camp Claiborne was expanded In size In 1939, and from then until 1945. From 1939 to 1946, Camp Claiborne was mainly
used for training and artillery practice, special service forces training was also conducted there, including railroad battalion training.
